In which Year was the Archives Department established?

 Archives Department was established in 1821.

 Yes, the following are the Act and Rules

  1. Maharashtra Public Record Act, 2005
  2. Maharashtra Public Record Rules, 2007

The act covers

  1. In relation to the State Government, any Department of Mantralaya or office of the State Government
  2. In local authority or any statutory body or corporation, wholly of substantially controlled or financed by the State Government or commission or any committee constituted by the State Government, the office of the said local authority, statutory body, corporation, commission or committee.

The public records shall be made available for bona fide consultation and research purposes. A person intends to consult the public record shall apply to The Director, in Form-8. The Director may refuse such permission in the public interest.

Foreign National intending to consult the public records may be permitted only on the production of letters of introduction from their Sponsoring Institution and Diplomatic Mission.

Citizens can apply online through ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal get certified copied of the documents.

Certified copies charges are Rupees 10 (Ten) per page.

Modi Script Training Programs are conducted in each revenue division once in a year. Total of seven Modi Script Training Programs are conducted.
